Overview

The SKI Metal Treadle Pump is a high-performance, fully galvanized all-steel treadle pump. Farmers and rural communities use it to lift water from shallow wells and surface sources such as rivers and streams. A single operator simply stands on the metal treadles and pumps with their feet, so the pump needs no electricity or fuel.

Discharge Capacity and Depth

The Zimbabwe Treadle Pump delivers 5,000 litres per hour of water from a depth of 5 metres, and one person can operate it alone. Additionally, it can push this discharge up to 20 metres horizontally and 3 metres vertically. Because it works on suction, like any suction pump, it reaches a maximum working depth of 8 metres.

Galvanizing and Corrosion Protection

Our team hot-dip galvanizes the pump fully at our in-house galvanizing plant, and we electroplate all fasteners. As a result, the pump resists rust and corrosion even after years of daily use in the field.

Barrel Assembly

The pump features twin barrels with a 110 mm internal diameter and 2 mm wall thickness.

Valves, Seals and Pipes

We manufacture the cup seal and flapper valve from 100% nitrile rubber. The inlet and outlet pipe use 1 1/4″ NB pipe with an outer diameter of 43 mm and a wall thickness of 3 mm, so it fits a standard 40 mm suction hose or our PVC riser pipe.

Pulley

We cast the pulley from cast iron, so it can accommodate a heavy-duty steel rope up to 6 mm thick.

Toolkit and Spare Kit

Every pump comes with a toolkit and spare parts, including cup seals, flap valves and the tools needed for routine maintenance.

Non-Slip Treadles

Non-slip rubber sleeves cover the steel treadles, so the operator’s feet stay secure while pumping.
