What hand pumps does SKI manufacture?
We manufacture the India Mark 2, India Mark 3, Afridev, Tara, Shallow Well and Extra Deepwell hand pumps, plus the Metal Treadle Pump and accessories including PVC and stainless steel riser pipes.
What depths can your pumps handle?
India Mark 2: up to 50 metres. Extra Deepwell India Mark 2: 50 to 90 metres. Tara: up to 15 metres. Metal Treadle Pump: up to 5 metres, for shallow and surface water sources.
Is SKI certified?
Yes. SKI is ISO-certified and BIS-certified, and has been UNICEF-approved since 1975 for the Deep Well India Mark 2 hand pump under the Bureau of Indian Standards’ IS 15500 specification. Our galvanizing is carried out to IS 4759.
What is your minimum order quantity?
We manufacture for bulk and export orders and are unable to supply fewer than 50 pumps per order. This lets us keep ready stock and ship within a few days of a confirmed order.
Which countries do you export to?
We export to more than 50 countries, primarily across Africa and hand-pump-reliant markets in Asia, including Afghanistan, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand.
How long has SKI been making hand pumps?
S K Industries was founded in 1961, so we have decades of experience in hand pump technology. SKI has several times been the first manufacturer to be awarded the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) mark for various products.
Which hand pump models do you offer for different needs?
Our range includes the India Mark II, India Mark III and VLOM 50 deep well hand pumps, the Tara direct action hand pump, the Extra Deepwell hand pump, the Afridev hand pump and the Singrur shallow well hand pump. For irrigation we make the Metal Treadle Pump and the Malawi Treadle Pump.
Do you supply spares, tools and riser pipes?
Yes. Besides complete pumps we supply hand pump spares, the tools needed to install and maintain them, GI and uPVC riser pipes, and castings. Buying spares and pipes from the manufacturer helps your pumps stay in service and keeps installations consistent.
Do you make your own castings and galvanize your own parts?
Yes. Our manufacturing facility has an in-house foundry and a hot dip galvanizing plant, which lets us control quality from the raw casting to the finished pump.
How do you ensure pump quality?
We believe that even if one pump in a thousand is defective, it is a total loss for the people who depend on it for water. We use the best raw materials and processes, and we work to recognised standards, including BIS specifications and ISO certification.
Which organisations does SKI work with?
We work with organisations such as UNICEF, SKAT, BIS and SGS, with government agencies and departments, and with NGOs such as Lifewater, CARE and Development Alternatives. Our products have also won international awards, including Best Treadle Pump Manufacturer in India.
